Colonial Hills Elementary Invites Artist to Teach Drawing Lessons

Colonial Hills Elementary, in partnership with the Basic School Art Grant, recently invited My Art Starz Artist Shelley Fluke to teach drawing lessons to their kindergarten through 5th grade students. During the two-week project, students learned how to draw various animals including penguins, polar bears, sharks, and otters. Practice drawings were then followed by a finished drawing on watercolor paper. After the drawing lesson, students traced their artwork with black marker and completed the project by painting in vivid watercolors. The students’ paintings will be uploaded by mid-November to the Internet by My Art Starz and will be available for viewing and purchasing via a password. Items available with the students’ artwork imprinted on them include mouse pads, coffee mugs and key chains.
This is the first of several art projects planned for the year at Colonial Hills.
