NEISD Gifted/Talented Program Information

North East ISD has a unique program for gifted elementary students in grades K-5.  To qualify, students need to score in the high 90's on a majority of the standardized tests given.  Students who have been tested and identified as intellectually and academically gifted will attend G/T classes for 2.5 to 5 hours each week.

Teachers, parents, counselors, or administrative personnel may nominate students for NEISD gifted programs.  Qualifying K-2 students are reassessed at the beginning of 3rd grade and 3-5 students are reassessed at the end of 5th grade for entering the middle school G/T programs.

Nomination & Testing Schedule

Grades 2-5	Nominate prior to the  2nd week of school	Testing during the  1st through 3rd week of school
Grade 1	Nominate prior to the  7th week of school	Testing during the 7th through 9th week of school
Kindergarten	Nominate prior to  January 1	Testing in January
Middle School	Nominate prior to  February 15th	Testing in February/March depending on TAKS schedule

Current NEISD students not nominated by the assigned times will be asked to wait for the following year's testing.  New GT students enrolling in North East ISD after the normal testing periods will be tested as soon as scores from the previous school arrive.
