Second graders are working on developing important language skills. Through the Four Blocks of Literacy Model, we will improve reading, spelling, and writing skills. The Four Blocks are Guided Reading, Working with Words, Writing, and Self Selected Reading. Reading  will include small and large group instruction.   Students will improve spelling skills and vocabulary by using the Word Wall.   Students will focus on sentence and paragraph writing during the Writing block.
Second graders will also explore number patterns, statistics and graphing, and combinations of numbers through hands on Math activities.  Students also work to improve problem solving skills.
They will also explore many interesting social studies and science concepts.  We will learn about animals, space, geography, and holidays around the world.
