Texas Librarians review and submit nominations of books that we think are the best of what has been published for the preceding year.  Each year, since 1979, a list of titles that we feel every child should be exposed to is issued.  For previous year's list go to www.txla.org .  At Camelot Elementary we have a Bluebonnet Reading Program for students in grade 3-5.  If they read five of the books on this list they can vote in January  for their favorite book.  The votes are then sent to Austin where they are tallied.  The author of the winning title is honored at the Annual Texas Library Convention, usually held in March.  At Camelot the winner is announced at a Bluebonnet Luncheon, usually held during Public School Week,  in our school library.  To be invited to the luncheon you must have read 10 books from the list and passed at least 5 AR quizzes from the list.  Those students that read all 20 titles and passed at least 10 AR quizzes from the list will get special recognition at the end of the year awards assembly.
