Co-district champions, Churchill and Reagan paced each other through the four playoff matches until they meet again to decide the regional champion and who would advance to the state tournament. At UT Pan American in Edinburg last Saturday afternoon the two played a five game match that ended with Churchill scoring the fifteenth point off a hitting error from Reagan to claim the title and advance for another round. The two teams played 5 hard sets with stats that were almost dead even at times in every category. Churchill, with a record of 46-2 advances to Garland to play Southlake Carroll (48-1) who gave them their first loss this season at the Pearland Tournament. This will be the Chargers first trip back to the state tournament since 1998 and they will play at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland at 5:00 PM on Friday, November 22, in one of the two semi-final matches. The other semi-final match will be at 7:00 PM and feature the Woodlands and Clear Falls from Houston. The 5A Championship match will be Saturday night at 7:00 PM in the Culwell Center.

District 26 5A is still in the 2013 playoff picture as Churchill and Reagan advance to the Regional Quarterfinals. Both schools played intense 5 set matches against Northside schools and prevailed to advance to the quarterfinals. Clark became Reagan’s latest victim in a match filled with high scoring and big turn-a-rounds. Churchill defeated O’Connor in a thrilling 2 hour match on Friday night at Cole.
Teams that win on Tuesday will advance to the Regional Tournament in Edinburg at Pan American University. Games will follow the bracket path and be at 6:00 PM and 8:00 Pm on Friday night. The finals will be played at 1:00 PM on Saturday.
North East will be hosting the Regional 2A & 3A volleyball tournament on November 15th &16th.

VOLLEYBALL UPDATE - Nov. 4, 2013
Playoffs are here and Madison has ended the drought by defeating MacArthur in a five game match to secure a spot in the playoffs. . MacArthur had knocked Madison out of the playoff picture for the last 3 years so this win was big for the orange and white. The fourth place Mavericks will place Canyon at Canyon on Tuesday, November 5th at 7:00 PM.
Co-champs Churchill and Reagan flipped for the seeding in the UIL bracket with Reagan taking the #1 seed. Tuesday night Reagan will play Judson at Cole HS on Ft. Sam Houston at 7:00 PM. Churchill will travel to Boerne Champion to take on Smithson Valley at 7:30 PM on Tuesday as well. Lastly on Tuesday evening, Johnson will meet up with New Braunfels at Seguin at 6:00 PM.
The second round and potential match-ups can be found on the UIL website at www.uiltexas.org. Winners from the first round could potentially play on Thursday November 7th, Friday, November 8th or Saturday, November 9th. Don’t miss your favorite team in action in a gym near you.
VOLLEYBALL UPDATE - Oct. 28, 2013
Seniors will be honored at the last regularly scheduled distinct matches of the year this Monday and Tuesday night at Littleton Gymnasium. However, if there are not any upsets, a district playoff will occur between Madison and MacArthur for the final spot into the playoffs. Churchill, Reagan and Johnson have secured their spots, but the fourth one is up for grabs. Johnson has clinched third place and will play New Braunfels with details still to be worked out. Churchill who defeated Reagan on Friday night, now are both tied for first place. Details will be worked out this week after the district matches to decide playoff seeding.
Churchill and Lee will play tonight, Monday at 6:30 pm preceded by their JV team . Tuesday, October 29th Roosevelt plays Reagan at 5:30 pm followed by Johnson and Madison. Details will be given later this week about district playoffs.
VOLLEYBALL UPDATE - Oct. 15, 2013
Five playing nights left in the regular season for volleyball and big games left to play to determine playoff spots. Reagan at 7-0 is holding on to the #1 spot by a game over Churchill 7-1 and Johnson is sitting in third at the moment with a record of 5-2. But with two and half weeks still to play - rankings could easily shift. MacArthur and Madison are battling it out for fourth with the same record at 3-5 but Mac has the first round win over the Mavericks and both mustwin key games to stay in the hunt.
This week Churchill has big matches with Johnson on Tuesday and non-district match with Brennan 30-3 at Churchill on Friday night at 7:00 PM. Madison plays Reagan on Tuesday at 5:30 and Lee on Friday at 5:00. Reagan plays Madison on Tuesday and MacArthur on Friday at 6:30. Leehas a bye on Tuesday and comes back to play Madison on Friday night at 5:00 to start the triple header. Roosevelt travels to MacArthur on Tuesday and closes out Friday night at 8:00 with Johnson.
VOLLEYBALL UPDATE - Oct. 1, 2013
The first round of district play concludes this Friday night but not before big games take place this week. Churchill and Reagan who are both 4-0 square off Tuesday night at 7:00 PM to claim the first place spot in 26-5A. The Express News has both schools listed in the City’s Top Ten with Churchill 33-1 ranked first and 27-5 Reagan coming in at #2. Should be a great match-up all night with MacArthur 2-3 and Madison 2-2 opening up the night at 5:30 PM looking to slide into the top four spots for playoffs down the road. Johnson hosts Lee at Johnosn at 7:00 pm while Roosevelt hosts Marshall in a non-district match-up.
Friday night is another triple header at Littleton starting with Reagan And Roosevelt at 5:00 and followed by Madison and Johnson at 6:30. Lee and Churchill finish up the night at 8:00 PM and second round begins next Tuesday. Be sure to catch your favorite team before heading out to football this Friday night.
On Tuesday, Sept. 17, Mike Carter recorded his 700th victory as a head volleyball coach when the Lady Rattlers defeated Lee.
VOLLEYBALL UPDATE - Sept. 10, 2013
After a full and grueling pre-season, District 26-5A will finally start on Friday the 13th. Churchill who has ruled the City with a 28-1 record hosts Madison (15-11) at Churchill on Friday night at 7:00 PM. Littleton is packed with action that night with a 5:30 match between Lee (12-12) and Roosevelt (14-16) followed by Johnson (17-13) and MacArthur (15-11). The Express News ranked Churchill #1, Reagan #3, and Johnson #8 in the top ten in the city and #2 New Braunfels will play at the Rattler Den on Friday night at 7:00 PM.
