Spring Sports Update
March 26, 2013
As we approach the end of March, the North East spring sports program is in full swing. Congratulations are extended to our 26-5A district soccer champions. The Lady Jaguars at Johnson High School and Coach Kara Stracener won the district title as did the Reagan Rattlers and Coach Albert Munoz. We also have going to the playoffs Reagan, MacArthur and Churchill in the girls and Churchill, MacArthur and Johnson in the boys. All first round playoff games will take place on Thursday, March 28.
Track season is well underway with numerous meets each week for high school and middle school athletes. One of our top meets takes place this Thursday at Heroes Stadium. The North East Invitational will attract some quality teams that will provide outstanding performances.
The baseball race is very tight. Churchill has one loss and Reagan, MacArthur, Johnson and Madison are all tied for second with two losses.
Softball finds Johnson undefeated with Churchill right behind and followed by MacArthur, Madison and Reagan.
The athletic department staff is making plans for the district and regional tennis tournaments and the district golf tournament. We will also host the regional soccer tournament April 12 & 13 and will host the district, area and regional track meets all of which will be at Heroes Stadium.
April is always a busy month in the spring sports. Fans are invited to come out and see their favorite teams perform as both teams and individuals pursue advancement in their chosen sport.
