On Thursday night, while many San Antonians were cheering on our local NBA heroes, the San Antonio Spurs, members of the ACE staff and ACE students were cheering on our own heroes:  the Academy Advisory Corporate Council. 

The AACC was honored with the 2005 Volunteer of the Year award in the area of "Group Service" by the Volunteer Center at the United Way.  The event, dubbed as the "Night of a Thousand Stars," is the city's largest volunteer recognition ceremony and included many local individuals and groups that volunteer their time to help those in need ranging from seniors to infants. 

More than 900 people attended the event which is in its 16th year.  The organization, which has sponsored this annual event to honor local volunteers, has has given away over 3000 awards since its inception 16 years ago.
