North East ISD - JROTC physical fitness

Physical Fitness Teams and competitive fitness meets have been a strong point for the North East JROTC programs for decades. Regardless of the the type of exercises required: aerobic, anaerobic, isometric or isotonic, our seven outstanding programs prepare the cadets to perform at a very high level to meet the high expectations set by the cadets themselves. As a matter of curriculum each cadets receives classroom instruction on individual fitness assessments and determining the appropriate exercise program to improve or maintain a high level of fitness. A healthy lifestyle includes good nutrition as well as exercise so all cadets receive instruction on nutrition and building health skills. Activity is critical to learning and the North East JROTC cadets are encouraged to excel in both areas. First Aid instruction is also included in the curriculum instruction. The culmination of the curriculum instruction is the encouragement for each cadet to get involved in one or more of the integrated-curricular JROTC activities like the competitive Physical Fitness Team, orienteering or drill teams.

Physical Fitness teams are normally composed of five members, gender specific or occasionally compete in mixed gender events. Fitness competitions are normally held in conjunction with JROTC Skills Meets or Drill competitions.

Raider Challenge teams are composed of eight to ten members that compete in a series of events that challenge each member of the team physically as well as mentally in the decision making processes and skill application they are confronted with in negotiating each event of the competition.
