college/university STUDENT TEACHERS/TRINITY INTERNS
North East works with numerous accredited universities and colleges in the placement of student teachers, which require a placement for one or two semesters. Student teachers who wish to complete their student teaching with North East must complete the following procedures:
- 1. Student teachers should submit an online student application. Once the application is submitted a criminal history background check will be completed. All backgrounds must be approved prior to working with students.
- 2. Student teachers should contact the University Coordinator to submit an official request in writing to the Human Resources Specialist of Staff Development. The request should list details of the placement and may be emailed to the Human Resources Specialist, Davilyn Tate, at email@example.com.
- 3. Student Teachers are expected to attend a mandatory Student Teacher Orientation prior to working with students. The Orientation covers the policies and procedures of North East and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. The Orientation lasts approximately 45 minutes. During this time the student will have their picture taken for a student teacher I.D. badge to wear for the duration of his/her student teaching. Every student teacher must attend one of three sessions. Sessions are held at the Richard A. Middleton Education Center (RAMEC) at 8961 Tesoro Drive, San Antonio, TX 78217.
The sessions scheduled for the 2014 Fall semester are as follows:
August 4, 2014 at 9:00 A.M. – RAMEC Building Room 614
August 25, 2014 at 9:00 A.M. – RAMEC Building Room 614
September 8, 2014 at 9:00 A.M. – RAMEC Building Room 614

The NEISD Human Resources Department hosts a Student Teacher Reception each Fall and Spring to recognize our Student Teachers and Cooperating Teachers.
2014 Fall Student Teacher Reception – Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at the Piper Bass Memorial Student Center located at 12002 Jones Maltsberger, San Antonio, TX 78216 from 4:30 P.M.– 5:30 P.M.
All student teachers and field experience student observers for the 2014 fall semester, please be advised that our student application process will be under construction beginning April 17.
