Windcrest students are energized for staar
Teachers get ready to battle in the teacher dance-off.
The stress that comes with STAAR (State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness) testing can be overwhelming for teachers and students alike. This notion motivated the Leadership Team at Windcrest Elementary School to host its first ever STAAR Pep Rally, with a mission to energize the entire campus. Windcrest found the right team for the job at Higher Impact Entertainment. The higher impact crew and their mascot, Funkey Munkey, visited the third, fourth and fifth grade students on April 16.
Students get some huge laughs as teachers are wrapped in toilet paper.
The day was filled with plenty of laughs - thanks to Funkey Monkey - and even more educational tips for the students. All in attendance enjoyed the high energy presentation, which included the unlocking of a mystery briefcase filled with top secret STAAR tips, the decoding of the word IMPACT where students focused on fun skits that would help them figure out the code.
Even bigger laughs filled the air as students watched their favorite teachers become toilet paper mummies, proceeded by the infamous teacher dance-off, which had teachers "stomping the yard" to prove who had the best moves.
After the event staff and students both felt that the event was a huge success and that it was an effective way for students to be reenergized. Higher Impact Entertainment managed to stuff interactive games with students and teachers, motivational tips for student success, and a well needed opportunity for comic relief prior to the big day, in just one hour.
