Wetmore student council proud of accomplishments
The Wetmore student council participated in the "Clean Out Your Console" campaign to fight cancer.
The Wetmore Elementary School Student Council successfully completed two community outreach programs this year. In the fall, they organized and coordinated a clothing and food drive for the McKinney Project. This venture afforded the student body and surrounding community the opportunity to assist those in need. The outpouring of generosity by those involved was truly heartfelt and overwhelming.
This past spring, the student council made a positive impact on the lives of blood cancer patients! They took part in The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS)/Pasta for Pennies Program presented by Olive Garden. During the 3-week-period, all Wetmore students collected spare change to support LLS’s mission; to cure cancer and to improve the quality of life for young patients and their families.
Student Council members took it a step further and participated in “Clean Out Your Console” and waited for parents dropping off their children in the drive-off lane and asked them to clean out their consoles to fight cancer! The Student Council collected, counted, and donated over $2,800 dollars to LLS. We are so proud of our students and their parents who helped support our efforts to foster a spirit of giving in each child.
