Roosevelt's TSA Relay for Life team raises $2,000
The 2013-2014 Roosevelt TSA Relay for Life team
On May 2-3, the Roosevelt High School Relay for Life team, named The American Globetrotters, met their target goal of raising $2,000 for the fight against cancer. Destiny Avila, the team captain, organized a group of Roosevelt High School TSA members to spend the night walking the track at the Classic Elite Soccer Academy. Team American Globetrotters was honored to be included in the millions of people who set out every year, to raise money and awareness to bring an end to the tragedy that is cancer.
“It is truly inspiring to see what a group of high school students can do when they put their minds together," said Roosevelt teacher and team sponsor, Maria Gentry. Team Globetrotters will be receiving an award this year at the Technology Student Associations annual competition. The group is one of the very few teams to meet the $2,000 goal. Thirty Roosevelt TSA students will be to going to the TSA National Competition this summer which is being held in our nation’s capital.
