Coker Elementary students and staff celebrated Jumpstart's Read for the Record with the San Antonio College Guitar Ensemble on September 20, 2007. The ensemble performed a piece written by Mychal Gendron to accompany a narration of the book The Story of Ferdinand. The Guitar Ensemble is directed by Terry Muska, associate professor, and the performers are Raul Alvarez, Brant Sankey, Jane Jacobs, Robert Mason, Thomas Gibson, Jackson Albracht, Gilbert Abundis, Robert Romo, Luis Torres, Sean Chiw, Roderick Ross, Michael Deosdade, David Ramirez and Sergio De Los Santos. Read for the Record is a national campaign created to encourage children across the country to read the same book on the same day. This year the official campaign book was The Story of Ferdinand.
