Mrs. Sylvia Branch receives the "Distinguished Partner in Education Award" from Dr. Richard Middleton on August 13, 2007. The NEISD Board of Trustees honored Mrs. Branch for her many years of volunteer service to NEISD. She volunteered in the district for 15 years, which included service and leadership as President with various school PTAs, the North East PTA Council and chairing numerous scholarship fund-raisers. As President of the MacArthur PTA, she initiated the development of the celebrated General Douglas MacArthur relief at the school's entrance. Mrs. Branch is the mother of Representative Dan Branch (District 108 Dallas) who was also honored that evening with the "Outstanding Graduate Award" for his significant contribution toward the betterment of Texas. Rep. Branch attended Serna Elementary School, Garner Middle School and graduated from MacArthur High School in 1976.
