MacArthur High School conducted TAKS Survivor Saturday on Saturday, March 8, 2008 in the school's library. Students worked in groups of four to compete for the highest score while solving problems involving measurement, probability, algebraic thinking and more. The strategies used to solve the problems mirror those needed on the TAKS test. Each group visited four stations, each having four to six TAKS questions. These questions allow students to collaborate, determine strategies and show accurate solutions to complex situations. In addition, after completing each station, groups competed in a timed task activity, that involved team-building and collaboration. Prizes were awarded for the highest scoring team.
