North East School of the Arts students visited the McNay Art Museum for a lecture and tour led by Jane Hammond. The students participated in a drawing workshop directed by Hammond following the tour. Work by Hammond is presented as part of the McNay's ARTMATTERS series of exhibitions of work by living artists, and the exhibition is accompanied by an illustrated gallery guide. Jane Hammond is well known for her paintings, works on paper, and books filled with signs and symbols. Her works draw from a variety of found sources such as biology, mathematics, popular culture and children's stories. From these found images, Hammond creates her fictional worlds.
