Colonial Hills named Touchdown School

Colonial Hills Elementary Physical Education Coach, Terri Pitts, attended the Annual Fuel Up to Play 60 Award Banquet in Austin. 

Colonial Hills was recognized for their health and fitness program and became a “Touchdown School” for the fourth year. Colonial Hills was also recognized for their garden to cafeteria program. They have been able to take produce from their school garden and have it served in the cafeteria. 

Last fall, the students were able to sample coleslaw. Recently, they were able to sample fresh squash and zucchini. The award was presented by Dallas Cowboys player Larry Brown and Karin Kuiper, National Dairy Council member.

Fuel Up to Play 60 is a for-youth, with-youth program empowering students to create healthy changes nationwide. The largest in-school wellness program was created by the National Dairy Council and National Football League in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
