Roosevelt hosts first Smarter Fair

On May 15, Molly Pruitt Library at Roosevelt High School was the site of the inaugural Smarter Fair. Hosted by the San Antonio Library (SAPL), this unique job fair gave students an opportunity to learn about career pathways and summer employment, internships and volunteer opportunities.

Agencies participating included Joven, Café College, Witte Museum, City of San Antonio, UTSA, the San Antonio Fire Department, Project Worth, the San Antonio Public Library, the U.S. Navy, and the DoSeum.

“It was great opportunity to learn about employment and volunteer options within the City of San Antonio." said Diahann Aguilar, senior at the Design and Technology Academy (DATA) at Roosevelt. "I learned about the availability of scholarships through Café College, so going to the Smart Summer Fair was an eye-opening experience.”

SAPL Director Ramiro Salazar was on hand to give greetings at the start of the event. Roosevelt students who participated received informational materials, giveaway items and important contacts that will help to encourage workplace readiness.
