Julia Gignac from Krueger School of Applied Technologies (KSAT) was named the third place winner in the 2017 AIAA Space Systems Technical Committee (SSTC) national essay contest. The annual essay contest helps inspire young students to explore aerospace topics.
Julia was the 8th grade first place winner for the local southwest Texas section of AIAA. Her essay then moved on to the national level. Julia will receive an AIAA membership, a monetary award, and a Certificate of Achievement. Her Concepts of Engineering Teacher Tracy Thomas will also receive a monetary gift for her classroom that will go toward STEM materials or activities.
The first place winning essays and the names of the second and third place winners will be published in Aerospace America, AIAA's monthly magazine.
