North East ISD’s School Nutrition Services (SNS) holds an awards ceremony every year to honor its dedicated staff for their service and commitment to excellence.
On May 5 (Cinco de Mayo), more than 500 SNS employees gathered in a brightly decorated Littleton Gym for the festive celebration. Awards were given to employees for 5, 10, 20, 25 and 30 years of service. Additionally, SNS employees retiring were also recognized. The event falls with in School Nutrition Employee Week, which is May 1-5.
For many children, school lunch is the most important and nutrient-rich meal of their day. NEISD school nutrition employees must balance many roles and follow numerous federal, state and local regulations to ensure safe and delicious meals are served to our students every day. The staff navigates student food allergies, focuses on promoting healthy offerings, and provides service with a smile. This recognition is greatly deserved given the impact these school nutrition professionals have on our students' health and well-being.
Staff enjoyed a delicious catered meal, music by the Wood Middle School mariachi group, a folklorico dance performance by several SNS employees, and multiple door prizes.
