Adult Education recently hosted its annual International event to honor students participating in the ESL and GED programs and their families. This celebration brought in 150 students and family members to enjoy delicious food, great music, and artistic representations created by students representing 28 different countries.
Students take great pride in sharing dishes and cultures from their respective countries. The event included two student contests: the best food dishes and the best class poster. The top food contest winner is Silviu Neagu of Ms. Weismann's ESL 4 class and the class poster winner went to Mrs. Garcia's Multi-level ESL class.
Live music, provided by a student pair from Cuba and by the woodwind quintet Adelante Winds, was a delightful addition to this year’s event. The groups played selections by international composers.
Once again, International Day was a huge success. Teachers, staff and students alike enjoyed Adult Education’s kick-off to Fiesta by celebrating the day with fellowship, food and music.
