It has been a successful few weeks for the Reagan High School Band Program. On March 25, the Reagan JV Winter Guard took home the silver medal in Regional A Class at the Texas Color Guard Circuit (TCGC) State Championships. The success continued on April 1, as the Varsity Winter Guard brought home the Silver Medal in National A Class. These were both the highest finishes in Reagan history. The Reagan Winter Guards are under the direction of Noel Gabrintina with assistance from Camille Cornejo and Mariah Sutton.
The Reagan Saxophone Quartet has also found success recently. On March 25, the group won first place at the Coltman Chamber Music Competition in Austin, Texas. This is one of the most highly regarded chamber music competitions in the country. In addition, on April 9 the quartet won first place and $2000 at the FAME Awards held in Laurie Auditorium at Trinity University. This was the third straight year the group won this competition. The Reagan Sax Quartet is under the direction of Greg White.
The Reagan Jazz Band is no stranger to earning trophies. The group won first place at the Palo Alto Jazz Festival on April 7. Outstanding musician distinctions were awarded to Markham Brown-piano, Jamal Hawkins-tenor sax, Zach Kursman-drums and Chris Loveland-bass. The Reagan Jazz Band is under the direction of Scott McDonald.
The Reagan Band Program is holding a Family Casino Night and Auction on April 25 in the Reagan Cafeteria from 6 - 9p.m. This event is to raise funds for the band to go to Pasadena for the 2018 Rose Parade! Tickets are available here: https://reaganband.afrogs.org/#/index
The Reagan Band looks forward to participating in the Fiesta Festival of Bands on April 27 and the Battle of Flowers Parade on April 28. The Band’s spring concert will be held on May 16 at 7 .p.m in the Reagan Auditorium. The Band is under the direction of Dan Morrison with assistance from Greg White, Mason Daffinee and Ray Ulibarri.
