Superintendent welcomes elementary students for lunch

Dr. Brian G. Gottardy, Superintendent of Schools, invited 23 elementary students to the North East ISD central office for lunch and discussion. He asked them a lot of questions, and the students discussed what they love about their schools, and what they want to see improved.  Dr. Gottardy asked the students about their favorite things at school. Students said they loved PE, after-school clubs, their campuses, their teachers, and so much more. Some of the 5th-grade students shared with Dr. Gottardy some of their anxiety about going to middle school. He addressed their concerns and assured them they would do great.

This was the first of three Superintendent Student Luncheons with Dr. Gottardy this semester. In the fall he met with 23 students from the other elementary schools and next week he will meet with representatives from each middle and high school.

MacArthur High School's Culinary class catered the event and students enjoyed cheeseburger sliders with potato waffle chips and veggie sticks.
