In support of Child Abuse Prevention Month, North East ISD schools are working to bring awareness about the statistics of child abuse in our community through the Cardboard Kids Campaign.
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. This is the fourth year for the campaign created by ChildSafe. Cardboard Kids are two-foot tall cardboard figures shaped like children that represent one of the thousands of children that are abused and neglected at the hands of adults in Bexar County each year. The Cardboard Kids are decorated and put on display to get people talking about this issue.
NEISD students and staff have worked together over the past few days to decorate their Cardboard Kids and display them around their campuses. The community is encouraged to decorate and display their own Cardboard Kids and place them in prominent places on April 6 (Reveal Day) to create awareness about child abuse and neglect.
Take a photo of your Cardboard Kid, or any others you see in the community, and share it on social media using the hashtag: #cardboardkidsSA
ChildSafe is a Children’s Advocacy Center, the only one in Bexar County, that provides specialized services to children and teenagers who have been abused, neglected or sexually abused.
