AMP students compete in Career Development Events


AMP students competed in the Area 7 FFA Career Development Events (CDEs) hosted by Texas A&M University on April 1. This was a qualifying round for the teams to advance to the state competition, which is taking place later this month. James Madison FFA had two teams qualify for the state competition in Meats Evaluation and Nursery/Landscape, as well as, multiple High Point individuals. The results are as follows:

Entomology – 11th
Floriculture – 7th
    2nd High Point Individual – Hailey Schonefeld
Livestock Judging – 32nd
Meats Evaluation – 4th
    3rd High Point Individual – Jack (John) Bellinger
    7th High Point Individual – Katarina Ponce
Nursery/Landscape – 1st
    1st High Point Individual – Tyler Hornburg
    5th High Point Individual – Katherine Juhl
    7th High Point Individual – Hannah Taylor
Poultry Judging – 7th

James Madison FFA also had students compete in the West Texas A&M University Invitational CDEs on March 31 and the Clarendon Jr. College Invitational CDEs on April 1. The placings are as follows:

Agricultural Communications - 1st place at West Texas A&M University
Agronomy - 1st place at West Texas A&M University and 2nd place at Clarendon Jr. College
