Lee cadets assist Communities In Schools

The Lee High School Volunteer Cadets supported the Communities in Schools (CIS) program by assisting in the distribution of food from the San Antonio Food Bank.

As described on the organization's website, Communities In Schools of San Antonio does whatever it takes to help at-risk students stay in school and succeed in life. Based directly inside schools throughout Bexar County, Communities In Schools connects children and their families to basic and critical educational and community-based resources, tailored to each student’s specific needs.

The cluster event, sponsored by Lee HS, was coordinated through CIS Staff in collaboration with the Lee cluster family specialists. A dozen volunteers from the Lee Parent Academy also assisted in distributing groceries to appreciative families in the Lee School Cluster.

“This was a terrific day," said First Sergeant Gabe Palos. "The families that got the food were very happy.  Everybody was so busy that time went by fast."

The cadets were elated to be able to assist in the food donation operation, and always strive to provide support to our cluster schools.
