Ike's Big Day is a tradition where the Eisenhower Middle School student body, along with the neighboring community, come together to honor and celebrate General Eisenhower’s birthday. This year, construction on campus made it necessary to move the celebration from October, President Eisenhower’s birth month, to February.
Eisenhower’s amazing PTA coordinated with faculty & staff, custodial staff and leadership to make this celebration a memorable one. Ms. Halbardier served as liaison between teachers and the PTA. School club members and their sponsors created festival-like booths consisting of a scavenger hunt, games of skill, face painting, cotton candy and inflatables. In addition, IKE’s health and wellness committee continued the tradition of sponsoring a 1K walk/run. The Churchill JROTC led the presentation of the colors and coordinated the firing of the cannon indicating the start of the race. Daniel C Martin LTC (R)) from U.S. Army South displayed his collection of antique firearms.
IKE’s Big Day was made possible through the generous gift of time given by the Eisenhower PTA, WatchD.O.G.S., parent volunteers and Eisenhower’s faculty and staff.
Thank you Churchill Junior ROTC, Daniel C Martin LTC (R), HEB and Dominos for your support!
