North East ISD hosted events at 46 elementary schools for Heroes for Health Day Wednesday, March 2. Elementary students met with community heroes to learn how good health impacts their lives.
For instance, Wilshire Elementary School invited active duty military officers from the 106 Brigade at Fort Sam Houston and an Emergency Medical Technician from 104 Firehouse. More than 300 students took part in three different station activities, including hula hooping, walking, running and tossing a ball in a giant hoop. Volunteers manned each station and the day was filled with plenty of laughter, learning and fun.
The Bexar County School Board Coalition and Go Public are teaming up once again for the annual Heroes for Health Day across the city. The goal is to show students that eating healthy and exercising are important habits to start now, so they are healthy when they grow up. NEISD is committed to teaching students about living a healthy lifestyle. Learn more about this essential initiative here.
