Future teachers are in the NEISD spotlight
Future educators and their mentors were given a warm welcome at this year’s Student Teacher/Cooperating Teacher Reception on April 8. The event is held twice a year in an effort to formally thank district teachers for their participation in working with a student who is joining the field of education. For principals, it’s an opportunity to meet prospective candidates that will support the district in Transforming the Future.
Karin Stanley, human resources director for staff development, addressed the student teachers at the reception. She highlighted the multiple colors in the rainbow and the meaning behind each color such as the color green, which indicates trust and peace.
“Student teachers I challenge you to be a rainbow of colors and bring all these qualities and all these characteristics into your classroom,” said Stanley. “Really create a sense of renewal each and every day for your students…Because I think it will pay out in dividends as you get your own classroom.”
Made possible by the Human Resources Staff Development Department, a total of 126 student teachers were placed in North East ISD schools this spring. In addition to the 204 observers, field experience students and practicum students, the HR Staff Development Department has helped 330 students meet their education requirements since the start of school.
