NEISD students get in gear at robotics showcase
The 2014 North East ISD Elementary Robotics Showcase kicked off on May 17, featuring more than 175 teams from 40-plus schools and hundreds of cool robots in Churchill High School. This extraordinary event highlights students collaborating as a team to computer-program their robots to perform various tasks at multiple stations.
With more than 700 students working to have the top bot, competing in the showcase was no easy task. Students designed poster board models for the robotics to run through for each task; designed and built their own unique robots; and tediously programed their robots to successfully complete various tasks.
Students also enjoyed checking out the renowned Geek Bus, an engaging mobile classroom that travels to schools to provide technology demonstrations as a high-tech shop class on wheels for the 21st century. Students were able to go inside the bus for a hands-on experience with all types of new and exciting learning technologies.
