On May 19, the excitement and tension ran high as thirty-seven teams of fourth grade students competed at the North East ISD Battle of the Books Competition. The champions were Team Longs Creek!
The participating campuses were Bulverde Creek, Camelot, Canyon Ridge, Castle Hills, Cibolo Green, Clear Spring, Colonial Hills, Dellview, El Dorado, Encino Park, Hardy Oak, Hidden Forest, Huebner, Jackson Keller, Larkspur, Las Lomas, Longs Creek, Montgomery, Northern Hills, Oak Grove, Olmos, Redland Oaks, Regency Place, Ridgeview, Roan Forest, Royal Ridge, Serna, Stahl, Stone Oak, Steubing Ranch, Thousand Oaks, Tuscany Heights, Vineyard Ranch, Walzem, Wetmore, Wilderness Oaks, and Woodstone elementary schools.
Students, families, teachers, and librarians gathered at Lopez Middle School for a pizza snack before the Semi-Final rounds began. Seven teams competed for the Final round where students battled to answer questions about 18 award-winning books.
The Battle of the Books is a reading enrichment program designed to encourage recreational reading in a variety of genres. This program is widely used across the United States and is very popular in NEISD.
