MacArthur culinary program enjoys big library read
Carl Stolhandske takes a look at the delicious recipes available in Aida Mollenkamp's Keys to the Kitchen book.
MacArthur High School students recently participated in the OverDrive Big Library Read promotion for Aida Mollenkamp’s Keys to the Kitchen. From February 17th to March 5th, students enjoyed unlimited, simultaneous access to Mollenkamp’s cook book through the district’s OverDrive ebook collection.
Carl Stolhandske’s culinary arts classes took this opportunity to research recipes with delicious results. With assistance from school librarian Janelle Richard, students spent time in the computer lab accessing recipes through the OverDrive READ web browser format of the book. After finding recipes, students worked in groups to create their dishes and share with the rest of the class.
Students then used MacArthur’s Library webpage to submit recipe reviews, detailing their thoughts on preparation as well as tasting dishes. Student recipe reviews and a short video displaying these culinary creations are available on the school’s library webpage.
