Johnson twirler wins regional title as a sophomore

Rebekah Gonzales

Congratulations to Johnson HS feature twirler Rebekah Gonzales who is the 2014 Intermediate 13-15 Regional Pageant Winner, as a sophomore. The contest took place on March 29 in Amarillo, Texas. The twirling pageant is comprised of three events: Solo, Fancy Strut, and Modeling.

The scores for these three events are combined to determine the winner, who will get to represent our region at the National Baton Twirling Association Championships this summer at Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana. Rebekah has been twirling for 5 years and this is her 2nd Regional title.

“I am very thankful for my private coaches, Pat Montgomery and Kelli Park," said Rebekah. "I am also extremely thankful for the support I receive from Johnson’s Director or Bands, Jarrett Lipman and Johnson’s Colorguard Director, Darryl Pemberton.”

After Saturday’s regional pageant contest, Rebekah joined her fellow JHS Colorguard team members for the TCGC (Texas Color Guard Circuit) championships in College Station, Texas where the World Class guard took first place by more than 10 points. It was a very exciting weekend for the Johnson Band Program!
