Harmony Hills students fill the pantry at local church
The Harmony Hills Peace Pals took a group photo before the Gift of Giving Parade last year.
The Harmony Hills Elementary School students fill the food pantry at Coker United Methodist Church each year during the month of December. The food pantry feeds the students and families in and around the Harmony Hills area.
Each year, while students from around the country are enjoying their Christmas parties, the Harmony Hills students are collecting dry and canned foods for their neighbor's food pantry. The students then parade through the school collecting the students by grade level and their canned foods.
From the three to four year old students in Ready Set Go through fifth grade, all students participated. The last three years Harmony Hills students have filled a U-Haul with canned goods. The students learn the true meaning of giving and the holiday spirit. The event is a school-wide event sponsored by the Peace Pals and the Reed Deed and Run group at Harmony Hills.
