Colonial Hills students win letter writing contest
Colonial Hills Elementary School is proud to announce three winners of the Karate Kids of America Organization’s letter writing contest. The contest was open to 4th and 5th grade students in North East ISD, San Antonio ISD and Harlandale ISD. With nearly 6,000 students participating, as part of the contest students were instructed to write a letter to a friend persuading them to say no to drugs, gangs and alcohol.
The first place winner was fourth grade student, Jacqueline Hernandez. She won a Xbox 360 Kinect for being the first place winner. Additionally, we the campus had two Honorable Mentions: Fourth grade student, Angelina Villarreal, and fifth grade student, Isis Guajardo.
The winners will be recognized at the Proclamations in Castle Hills and downtown San Antonio on May 13 and May 14 respectively, to pledge their independence from drugs, alcohol and gangs. On June 17, the students will visit the Bexar County Commissioners Court.
Colonial Hills Elementary staff, students and community are proud of this fabulous recognition.
