Churchill jrotc headed to national competition
Churchill High School JROTC Team Captain Jose Huergo
March proved to be extremely rewarding with very high payoffs for the Cadets in the Churchill High School Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC). After months of studying, team practices, and two qualifying competitions, the six member Academic team earned entry into the national championship round scheduled for the last week of April. This is the first time Churchill High School JROTC has qualified for the national championship.
The Churchill High School Academic Team, consisting of Jose Huergo (Team Captain); Olivia Jared; Fabizio Munoz; Bryce Crawford; Joseph Slaughter; and Christopher Carillo qualified to advance to the Army JROTC Leadership and Academic Bowl (JLAB) Championship.
JLAB is a national JROTC academic competition similar to UIL that began last October with more than 1,500 Academic Teams from high schools across the nation. The top Academic Teams in each of the seven JROTC Brigades qualified to advance to the Army JROTC Academic Bowl Championships.
