NJHS Sponsors Breast Cancer Awareness Week
NJHS students take a fun snapshot at the photo booth.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Wood Middle School National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) sponsored Breast Cancer Awareness Week. During lunch throughout the week of October 7-11, the group sold pink ribbons to students and staff. These ribbons were worn all week to show our support.
NJHS was on a mission as they posted paper ribbons in the library windows to show how many each grade level had purchased. On Oct. 11, it was "Pink Out Day" where students and staff wore all the pink they could. The campus created a "Pink Out Photo Booth" where students could take pictures with their friends using pink props that our NJHS members made.
With only four days of collection, Wood's students rasied $558, which will be donated to the Alamo Breast Cancer Foundation. The campus wanted to keep the donation as close to home as they could. Since the foundation is local, all who have donated know that the money will be put towards families in San Antonio that are affected by breast cancer.
The windows at the library are covered in paper ribons to show how many each rade purchased.
