Thousand Oaks Destination College Week

Thousand Oaks Elementary School celebrated Destination College Week, April 27 – May 4. The Thunderbolts celebrated this city-wide event initiated by Mayor Castro to promote the goal of higher education!

A week full of fun-filled activities were planned to educate students on higher education. The week kicked off on announcements when students were asked to guess the name of the mystery school fight song. Later that day, students created pendants to display around the school.

Students were also challenged to find out what schools their teachers went to by participating in a QR code scavenger hunt. Students, using their iPads, went searching the school for QR codes. They would scan the code to find out which teachers went to the attached school crest.

Not to be left out – teachers also had their share of excitement! They were challenged to find out more about their colleagues higher education experiences by completing a handout with trivia questions. They had to locate teachers that fit that qualification. The week wrapped up for the teachers with a tailgate lunch provided for them.
