Reaching for the stars: Regency Place welcomes astronaut

Jose M. Hernandez

Regency Place Elementary School Robotic Club members and parents got a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit with one of NASA's astronauts recently. Exemplifying this year's school theme, "Shoot for the Moon," Jose M. Hernandez spoke to the students, parents and staff about his lifelong journey of 'reaching the moon.

Believing in your dreams is a big thing in Hernandez's life. It has carried him to this point, and it's something he hopes to pass on to children.

"It took me 12 tries to become an astronaut," said Hernandez. "You think I'm gonna quit my first time? Folks should not be afraid to dream for something big. Don't ever give up on yourself."

Students, parents, and staff left inspired. Ready to tackle any challenge they may encounter on their way to the moon!
