Two REagan AP students win b-cycle design contests
Two Reagan High School Advanced Placement (AP) Art students' designs were selected to decorate San Antonio B-Cycle bicycle baskets. The students, Jetty Crittenden and Kendall Tiller, created designs responding to the theme "Spirit of San Antonio".
The purpose of the competition was to not only beautify the B-Cycle bikes, but to raise awareness of San Antonio's growing B-Cycle program. B-Cycle is part of an international movement to make short-term bike rentals available to the widest audience possible. San Antonio has one of the largest bike share programs in the United States, and strives to provide locals and visitors alike with a fun, healthy, and eco-friendly alternative to driving, while connecting individuals to San Antonio's unique cultural heritage.
The students won B-Cycle passes, gift certificates to Bike World and their work will appear on at least five B-Cycles to remain on the bikes for a duration of six months. The competition was sponsored by B-Cycle, SMART, Artpace, and AP Lab Studios.
Kendall Tiller's art work won 2nd place. She did a great job at integrating the B-Cycle logo in her artwork.
Jetty Crittenden's art work went "old school," by integrating the Alamo with classic wheel spokes.
