Holocaust survivor, Rose Williams, is coming to Nimitz Middle School to share her recollections and experiences. She is an education speaker with the Jewish Federation of San Antonio.
Currently, all eighth-grade students (Nimitz and STEM) are reading "Night" by Elie Weisel, a memoir about his experience in the concentration camps. Williams will share her experiences as the students learn about this period in the world’s history.
As part of their studies and this presentation, all the students have made a “butterfly” and written an ID number on the left wing. After Williams’ presentation, there will be a question and answer session. Students will then hold a remembrance ceremony where the butterflies will be placed in a box and buried
in the school’s garden.
