windcrest completes the Go!Kids challenge

Windcrest Elementary School was one of the top performing schools in San Antonio for the Corner Store & San Antonio Sports Go!Kids Challenge. At least 60% of the Windcrest student body completed the challenge and redeemed their coupon for a free bottle of water at a Corner Store location.

Windcrest hosted an assembly on Tuesday, May 27 to celebrate their accomplishments. The San Antonio Sports team presented the school with a check for $100 for its P.E. programs. Each student received a certificate and a coupon for a 24-pack of bottled water from a Corner Store. The teachers, coaches, and principal were also recognized for their participation.

"We are so proud of you for completing the challenge," said Erin Nichols, reporter from KABB Fox 29. She emceed the event at Windcrest.

The Corner Store Go!Kids Challenge is a free program of San Antonio Sports. Students pledge to be active 60 minutes a day and make water their primary drink. Windcrest embraced the challenge.

"The coaches here are amazing. They get the kids motivated. They get their colleagues motived," said Mary Japhet with San Antonio Sports. "We want to get people moving."
