Wetmore collects supplies for fire victims

After the devastating fires in the Bastrop area, Lynda Negrete, a second grade teacher at Wetmore Elementary School, got at call from a friend who had a close family member’s sister lose everything in the fire. She told Negrete how thankful the families were that they survived. However, she said it was the little things, like hygiene supplies and clean clothes that really made a difference in a time like this.

It didn't take long for Wetmore students to start collecting these much needed items for the families affected. In one week, the office was stacked full of items for the fire victims.

"As the delivery trailer was loaded, everyone felt like their small donation would make a difference in the life of someone they had never even met," said Lesha Dalton, assistant principal.
