Vineyard Ranch team up for love note pillow project

The third grade class at Vineyard Ranch Elementary School has started its labor of love. Students are cutting, tying, and stuffing fabric with fluffy pillows. Each pillow has a pocket in the front for a note, poem, and picture that will be given to a child staying in a local children's hospital.

"I think they are going to be really happy," said Kennedy Coyle.

The third grade class is part of the Team Up Challenge with the Spurs Sports & Entertainment. Third grader Brooklyn Barlow came up with the idea for Love Note Pillows, inspired by a tradition in her house.

"Since they are in the hospital all day, they might like a little pillow to look at," said Brooklyn. "It might give them a good feeling to have a letter we wrote and a poem."

The students have set an ambitious goal of creating 160 pillows. With the help of parent volunteers and their teachers, the students are determined to make it happen. They also received a $2,500 grant from the Team Up Challenge for being a semi-finalist in the Silver and Black's initiative.
