Thousand oaks partners for cystic fibrosis 5K walk

Thousand Oaks Elementary is partnering with the Lone Star Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to host the Thousand Oaks Great Strides Walk on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011 at McAllister Park Pavilion #4. The Thousand Oaks Great Strides Walk will raise funds to help find a cure for the children and adults who suffer from cystic fibrosis (CF).
“At this critical time, we invite the community to come out and run or walk and help us raise important research funds that will benefit children with CF right here in our community and across South Texas,” said Hugh Farr, executive director of the Lone Star Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. “We have a wonderful set of partners working very hard on behalf of our CF children. Thousand Oaks Elementary led by Principal Jenae Mai has been with us since the start of this event and we are so grateful for all they have done and for all they will continue to do."
The Thousand Oaks Great Strides Walk, emceed by News 4 WOAI anchor Randy Beamer, is a family-oriented event with kid-friendly activities, a Cutest Pooch contest for the best-dressed pets and live music. Participants are encouraged to register for the Great Strides Walk online. There is no registration fee for this event and all donations are 100 percent tax deductible, and 90 cents per dollar directly benefits the research and care of cystic fibrosis patients.
