Tejeda goes green, again
Tejeda Middle School begins the second year for its Green Club. The club is responsible for helping to recycle around campus, and all grade levels are invited to join. The Green Club has partnered with H-E-B to recycle plastic H-E-B bags. For every pound of bags that are recycled Tejeda receives $1. Please bring any plastic H-E-B bags up to the school. There is a bin located outside the main office where these bags can be dropped off by both parents and students.
Green club has also partnered with a company called EcoPhone, which
recycles used/broken electronics (i.e. cell phones, laptops,iPods, etc.) and empty
ink cartridges. Tejeda also receives money for recycling with this program. Another
bin is located outside of the front office for these items. All proceeds earned from
recycling with these programs will be used to beautify the Tejeda campus. The club is also in the process of constructing a greenhouse that was purchased through a
grant. The greenhouse will be used by the science classes for instruction. The Green Club and the ALE department will be responsible for watering the plants inside.
