superintendent hosts luncheon with students
Dr. Brian G. Gottardy, Superintendent of Schools, hosted 23 elementary students for lunch to learn what they love about their schools and what they think could improve education. The next day, he hosted 25 students representing each middle school.
This is the second year for the Superintendent Student Luncheons. Dr. Gottardy says he loves to hear directly from the students how NEISD is doing. He said the feedback is so important to the leaders who are not working directly with students everyday.
Principals selected the students to represent their school at the luncheon. Students shared how they enjoy using technology in the classroom and feel it makes them better prepared.
The middle schools students shared all the great programs that keep them motivated to do well in school. They enjoy athletics, PALS, UIL, Peer Mediation, tutoring programs, and especially the Bradley Mill Springs Cabin.
"There are so many programs to keep us out of trouble," said one student. "It's excellent."
Dr. Gottardy will also have lunch with representative from each high school in October.
