Spurs' Coyote hosts Boot Camp at Thousand Oaks

Thousand Oaks Elementary School Fitness Club spent the afternoon jumping, dribbling, and skipping with the San Antonio Spurs' Coyote and player Stephen Jackson.

Thousand Oaks was selected to participate in the Coyote's Boot Camp. Students in the newly formed Fitness Club were excited to learn about exercising from the experts.

Coach Matt Herring and his crew with the Spurs Athletics Performance Team lead students in a variety of exercises and drills.

Students also got to ask Stephen Jackson questions. He told the club his favorite exercise was stretching. They learned he has been playing basketball since he was four and his favorite color is red.

The Fitness Club has members in all grade levels. Only students in grades 1-5 were able to participate in the event. The group meets every month for activities. Organizer Melanie Hall says the school wanted to give students more opportunities to be physically active and have fun.
