STEM holds second Engineering Festival

DATE: Feb. 18
TIME: 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.
LOCATION: Lee HS, 1400 Jackson-Keller

The Lee High School Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Academy will hold their second Engineering Festival on Saturday, Feb. 18, 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. The festival is their community’s kick-off to National Engineer’s Week. Last year they served more than 100 students in the elementary and middle grades. They plan to double that number this year by adding several elements.

The festival last year included several engineering and design challenges (egg drop challenge, water bottle rockets, and making “goo”). These challenges were facilitated by the high school STEM students. Through the success of the activities, they will continue to have high school students support the challenges. The vision, however, for this year's festival is to have local industries and organizations highlighted by providing the challenges.

Admission to the fair is free.
