Roosevelt graduates win scholarships

Three Roosevelt High School graduating seniors were each presented $1,000 scholarships by Firefighter José Perez, President, Windcrest Volunteer Firefighter Association, and Fire Chief Dan Reese, at a special recognition ceremony at the City Council Meeting on May 21, 2012. Graduating seniors Braison Boykin, Joshua Dobard and Gideon J.L. Johnson were awarded scholarships for their exemplary academic accomplishments and their over 300 hours, collectively, of volunteer services to their communities.

All the scholarship recipients will enter college this fall: Braison, U. of Texas at Arlington, majoring in Architecture; Joshua, U. of Texas at San Antonio, Psychology major; and Gideon, Texas A & M University, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. While Joshua will graduate from Roosevelt, Braison and Gideon will graduate from Roosevelt's two magnet school programs: Design & Technology Academy and the Engineer Technology Academy, respectively.

Windcrest extends congratulations and continued success to these outstanding young men and scholarship winners.
